Mirisawetiya Stupa was built by King Dutugemunu as a mark of gratitude after a victorious battle. According to legend, the king forgot to offer chili (miris) curry to the Buddhist monks before consuming his meal, which led him to build this stupa as an act of penance. This stupa is a popular place of worship, attracting devotees who come to offer prayers and participate in religious rituals. The site reflects the deep spiritual commitment of Sri Lankan kings toward Buddhism.
