In 1941, the Mirihana temple site was a modest establishment, consisting of only a small room and a hall. This humble beginning would soon transform into something much more significant under the guidance of Venerable Kithelagama Pannasara Thero, who established the Vivekarama temple at this location.
The visionary leadership of Venerable Pannasara Thero turned the temple into a pivotal educational center in the region. From this temple, he founded several important institutions. The Sri Rohana Dhamma School, which opened its doors on February 6, 1949, the Sri Rohana Maha Bodhi College (now known as Stanley Thilakarathne College) and the Mirihana Vivekarama Night English School. Through these establishments, Venerable Pannasara Thero made an indelible mark on education in the area, demonstrating his profound commitment to community learning and development.
