The annual alms-giving procession organized by our temple’s Dayaka Sabha and Buddhist Women's Association is scheduled to be held this year on the day after Vesak Poya, that is, on Tuesday, May 13th at 9:30 AM.
Due to the recent devastating earthquake in Myanmar, the people there are facing severe hardships. Approximately 400 Myanmar national monks who have come to Sri Lanka for higher education are currently in great difficulty, as local donors in their country are no longer able to provide the necessary support they previously received. Therefore, it has been decided to include a larger number of Myanmar monks in this year’s alms-giving.
When offering alms to the venerable monks, please limit the provision of cooked food and beverages. Instead, try to offer non-perishable dry food items that can be stored for a longer period, such as rice, noodles, wheat flour, lentils, canned fish, curry powders, chili, salt, rock salt, sausages, sauces, powdered coconut milk, coconut oil, milk powder, sugar, and other essential items.
A monk will visit your home. Please offer alms equally to all monks.
